~ Kevin Green Guitars ~

In 1990, Kevin Green found himself (almost) fresh out of art college, wanting to start a band, and desperate for a good archtop. He couldn’t afford the one he wanted. He had just moved into a studio building in Toronto next to Michael Schreiner, a lute and guitar maker who also taught classes in luthiery. It was a turn of good luck that he wasn’t able to afford that guitar. He began classes with Michael to build his own.

Those classes turned into 3 years of self discovery that would lay the foundation for everything Kevin has done since. He built archtops and 5 Course guitars with Michael before moving to Vancouver and a short stint in Jean Larrivée's workshop. It was at this time that he discovered, in past generations of his family, violin makers, boat builders and musicians who up until then, he had never heard about. It all began to make sense.

The instruments he's building now have been in development since 2007, while he worked on other projects. All of Kevin's instruments are completely hand made, and specifications are not written in stone. Please feel free to discuss any request, or any unique project you may have in mind.
