Goldschmidt

Goldschmidt Handmade Instruments: Gabor Goldschmidt's passion for the guitar—and later for building guitars—started when he was around 12 or 13, after discovering Deep Purple’s Made in Japan album. From that moment, music became a vital part of his life.

Although he graduated as a civil engineer, music quickly took over. During university Gabor founded his first band, which is still considered one of the most well-known Pink Floyd tribute bands in Hungary. Around the same time, he also began experimenting with building instruments—first in the family garage, and later as an apprentice in the Benedek brothers’ workshop in Csepel.

After finishing his degree, Gabor spent his days as an engineer and his evenings in the Fibenare workshop. Eventually, guitar making won him over completely, left his job as a civil engineer and worked as a luthier for 15 years, where he learned the full craft—from winding pickups to woodworking, hardware, and finishing. Over those years, Gabor created around 700–800 instruments, many of which were showcased at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, the Los Angeles NAMM Show, and other major international exhibitions.

After fifteen years, Gabor decided to go his own way. With Goldschmidt Handmade Instruments, he follows the same uncompromising principles: building guitars that are comfortable, inspiring, and free from compromise. For Gabor, it doesn’t matter whether a guitar is part of a “series” or a completely unique custom order—the goal is always the same: the joy of the musician.

Every Goldschmidt guitar is crafted from carefully selected materials with engineering precision. Goldscmidt designs and builds his own pickups, and he prefer traditional handcrafting over computer-controlled machinery. He believes this is what keeps the craft authentic, keeps the mind sharp, and makes each instrument truly alive.

FREE SHIPPING ON ALL GOLDSCHMIDT INSTRUMENTS

This is Goldschmidt's take on the classic doublecut guitar, with classic hardware and comfortable neck joint contour, custom requirements are welcomed!

Standard specs:
- Body: alder
- Body finish: gloss nitro
- Neck: maple
- Scale length: 25.5"
- Neck shape: C
- Fretboard: maple or rosewood, rolled off edges
- Fingerboard radius: 9-12" compound
- Neck dimensions: 1.67" wide at nut, 0.83" deep at 1st fret, 0.9" deep at 12th fret
- Frets: 22, stainless steel, jumbo (Jescar 57110)
- Trussrod: double acting
- Neck finish: satin urethane
- Nut: bone
- Tuners: Gotoh
- Pickups: Goldschmidt S42 neck and middle (5,9kOhm), S42.5 bridge (7,9 kOhm)
- Electronics: 5 way CRL switch, Volume, Tone (neck and middle), Tone (bridge), orange drop capacitor, pushback wiring, CTS pots
- Bridge: Gotoh
- Weight: approx. 7.5 lbs

Options/upcharges:
- 5a figured maple neck: +$350
- Rosewood neck (Indian): +$350
- 5a figured maple top: +$470
- "Giant" boost (Dann Huff boost): +$250
- "Punch" boost (mid presence boost): +$250
- Gravity noise cancelling coils (per piece): +$130
- Dann Huff switching (Giant boost, noiseless pickups, series/parallel switching): +$570
- Locking tuners: +$60
- Closet aging: +$350
- Heavy aging: +$530

FREE SHIPPING ON ALL GOLDSCHMIDT INSTRUMENTS

This model is the outcome of the need for a singlecut guitar, which is not a Tele, not an LP but somewhere in between.
