Drew Walsh, the luthier behind Walsh Guitars, is a collector of weird and wacky guitars from the 1960s and 1970s. The Nezer draws inspiration from two of his favorites weirdos – a German made Hofner and a Japanese made Swinger.
Every Nezer is different from the last and always incorporates various German and Japanese aethestics. What doesn't change, however, is the silhouette (offset), the 3 piece pickguard, and body thickness (1.6").
This particular Nezer was given some special treatment. It features a gorgeous figured sapele body, 5A makore top, a comfortable roundover carve, a roasted 5A flame maple neck with ebony fretboard, and the best hardware and electronics in the biz. We all know the quality of a guitar is the sum of its parts, and with this guitar no corners were cut.
Other unique features include a plasticizer-free cherry nitrocellulose finish (just like the good ol days, which means it will eventually fade/amber and weather check naturally), extremely versatile McNelly pickups, an inlaid/flush handmade neck plate, a Danelectro-inspired bridge, and a master volume just for the middle pickup which allows for interesting shades of tone.
