Alan Dingwall guitars are built and assembled using parts and pieces from various vintage Fender guitars. All the hardware and plastics are from the year advertised. The bodies and necks may be from the same year or may be mixed and matched from various years. All the pieces are selected to give you the best tone and playability possible and quite possibly the finest tone you will ever experience, especially with the Alan Dingwall pickups and electronics that are used in all the guitars. The bodies are refinished by the legendary Bob Coleman, who completes the team. Some of the necks are vintage but many are made by Alan Dingwall, using old school '50s techniques of rough carving the neck on a pin router and then hand sanding and shaping until they are ready for John to finish.
Alan Dingwall has been collecting parts and pieces of vintage Fender guitars and basses for almost 40 years. He has worked closely with and is great friends with Phil Harris of the legendary Harris Hires, and Alan Rogan who was Pete Townsend’s tech and a longtime member of The Who family. He also worked closely with Clapton, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Joe Walsh, AC/DC, Tom Petty and many more. When Alan Rogan passed away, he willed all his guitars, parts, pieces, tools etc. to John Coleman and Alan Dingwall, which greatly added to their collection, giving the ability to create these incredible, individually assembled, unique instruments.
These exceptional Dingwall guitars are not offered by The Fender Musical Instrument Corp. and are not covered by their warrantees and guarantees.
