HOLZKNECHT GUITARS, IN OUR VIEW...
What can be said about a young man who started assembling and repairing guitars at the age of 13, who later on, after graduating high school, attended the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery and less than a year after graduating, was hired by Bob Benedetto where he rose to the ranks of “Senior Craftsman”. It’s not just a job, but a position that speaks volumes about the skills this man possesses.
Steve Holzknecht is a master craftsman who has mastered all aspects of guitar building from selecting the finest woods, to neck construction, carving tops and backs, setting necks, cutting and setting inlays, and finishing. He still holds his position as the “Senior Craftsman” at the Benedetto shop in Savannah Georgia, the very same shop where he builds his line of Holzknecht “Harlan” Guitars with the grace and permission of Bob Benedetto.
What we have here is a luthier of the highest caliber whose experience and credentials speak volumes. Therefore, it is with great honor that I welcome Steve Holzknecht to the DAG collective.
