The DSOTM is named after one of the greatest albums ever recorded – Pink Floyd’s masterpiece ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’. The DevTech Audio ‘DSOTM’ is an homage to Gilmour’s fuzz tones from early Floyd, but specifically from this album.
The ‘DSOTM’ is a true bypass fuzz pedal that expands from the silicon Fuzz Face circuit origins. It includes controls to tailor and dime in the fuzz tone you want, with the guitar and amp that you are using. The pedal is even capable of warm overdrive and distortion sounds, along with all out face melting fuzz. All with a stunning slow rate colour changing LED to represent the Dark Side album cover.
Fuzz face circuits were notorious for having impedance issues, resulting in not playing well with other pedals like buffers and wah’s. The ‘DSOTM’ was designed with an extra input stage to resolve this problem, thus making it much more usable with other effects.
Controls include:
- Volume (sets the overall output volume)
- Fuzz (this control can take you from a warm overdrive all the way to a searing fuzz)
- Body (sets the amount of bass going into the fuzz section. This can tighten up the lower end, or be set for a fat nasty fuzz. Like all fuzz effects – increased bass to the fuzz section will also increase noise.)
- Filter (controls the amount of treble/brilliance. You can get more high end, or make the tone darker to taste.)
- Boost (sets the gain of the input stage. Fully clockwise, the ‘DSOTM’ will be more aggressive and have more gain. Turned lower, there will be a more tame response.)
Inside is a trim pot to adjust LED brightness, if desired.
All quality components used, including NOS BC109C transistors, NOS Panasonic and Nichicon capacitors, Switchcraft jacks, Alpha pots, eSwitch, Gorva etc.
