Manlay Sound's M-200 was designed to reproduce the tone of the early (3 knobs) Marshall Major aka "The Pig". This very unique 200w amplifier was the key element of the legendary Mick Ronson sound. The "Pig" had a voice all its own, very different to any other amp of any era.
The M-200 replicates "The Pig's" unique tone circuit configuration. It's based on a two way preamp: one for bass and one for treble; these combine to produce different sounds, depending on their adjustment position, and produce the very distinctive, penetrating, nasal and slightly phased sound we all love from the early seventies’ David Bowie records as well as Mick Ronson's solo albums. A "sensitivity" switch was added so you can get the dirtiest sound possible at the high sensitivity position while at low sensitivity you can get a nice moderately overdriven sound with low background noise and also reach the cleanest side of the unit.  Â
